| Sooo, I don't know how people can consistently write in these things for a prolonged amount of time because after awhile, life just takes me away from the computer besides the e-mails. But, I will not judge...for those who do consistently stay updated with Xanga, here's your dose of Isabelle...BAM (ala Emeril Live...I've been watching entirely too much food network).
My life update..
I just moved...down the street, haha. I don't like too much change I suppose. The last semester went well...boosted my gpa a lil bit so that'll make me feel better until it gets demolished this semester. My roomates are perfect . Time for a fitness regime...newest purchase is Gunner Peterson's Core Secrets workout, due to arrive 3-4 weeks from now...I'll start the fitness regime then. Work at the lab is going well, pulling 30 hr/week shifts, meanwhile I got another job at the university gym (RSF) as a CPR instructor and that's fun and good money. Although sort of materialistic, I once made a vow to myself that every subsequent job I would get in life would have to pay higher than the previous one (unless job perks outweigh salary). I've been consistent with that so far, let's hope for good things in the future. My apartment is awesome...well I like it...I think of it as craft projects waiting to happen. Also, confession...I have learned to do dishes every other day, do laundry like a pro (I have the quickest color separation reflexes this side of the country), and cook VEGETABLES....oh yeah. I can't say I've had much free time because there's always busy work to be done and then summer school starts in...oh no...a couple days!! Then I'll REALLY have no time. I've learned to eat Indian food and come to like it, thanks to Adam. Gelato is my favorite everyday snack.
Birthday is coming up...JULY 12!!!! Plans for the event...rise and shine to breakfast in bed. Early horseback riding in Half Moon Bay with the boy, is he not perfection? Chill in Half Moon Bay, or beach, or movie...weather and mood determining. Dinner at the reputed Chez Pannisse. Present, which I already (easily) squeezed out of Adam...IPOD SHUFFLE...because life is random, and music can be too. I'm a walking endorsement. Newest half-creation...pajama pants. I'm making use of the sewing machine but it is very tempermental with me. I cut my own hair...perhaps soon to be permed...we shall see.
Update enough? Maybe I'll have more time to kill in the future and write more...I forgot how good it feels to just refresh myself on life, even if its my own.
| "To the windoooooowwwwww....to the waalllllll!" So that is what I'm hearing now on my princess bed while it's another crazy night at Henrys. Note to the public...these are the days I can not sleep until 3 am (Tuesdays: Henry's 2 for Tuesdays special....Thursday: Cal Party nights, Frat parties, and the all so popular Blakes around the corner....Saturday: Girls upstairs having parties...oh and um EVERY NIGHT until 2 am because drunken people like to gather at Top Dog across the street and yell and scream. Do they NOT read that sign on the door, you know the one that tells customers to be quiet because neighbors are sleeping!
Oh, I dyed my hair, it's really subtle and no one would really notice but you can definitely tell it's different. My hair plan is to color it a shade or two lighter in a few weeks before NJ and then get it permed in NJ, then grow it out really long and chop it all off again! Mwahahaha...it's gonna be a rollercoaster ride of hair!
It's also official, provided I pull off a B in chemistry, I will be staying another semester at Cal. Chemistry is so harsh! Work is awesome and I'm just gettin really worked up about going to the Empowerment camp in a couple weeks and then home sweet home to NJ with the family and friends. I'll have tons of stories, I'm sure...you might have to personally ask me about some of the stories, hahahhaa! Naa, I'm just kidding, all innocent fun here! What's a struggling, starving college student to bring to a pot luck? Suggestions? It's a busy week ahead, better get some rest to make it through the days ahead.
| Oh man this week has been bustin it up with the business (BUSY-ness). I don't even know where to begin. Crystal (my roomate) left for Hawaii on Monday starting her own new life so kudos to her for the initiative to start something like that of her own. She will be missed dearly. So it's been kinda empty in the apartment by myself until the new roomie moves in on September but Adam has been keeping me company so that's a big plus.
I've been having chemistry on the brain and it's like a huge slush puddle somewhere in my head right now...I better turn it to something more concrete seeing as how I have yet another ever so popular midterm on Monday.
Church has been so great. Devotion to God is so fulfilling that as much time I spend on worshiping him, I never feel that it is enough. Fellowship and Bible Studies have been really good for me and it is sometimes hard to understand certain things but no worries cuz you'll always have a fellow Christian to bounce things off with. It made me so happy to talk with my family yesterday. I can just notice that when I speak to my parents now, I have so much more love and appreciation towards them and I encouraged my father to read the Bible and he was actually open to it!!!! Praise God! My family really needs God and I think it's great that they can be open to Him and are willing to let Him into their hearts.
Work has been going great...I'm declaring that I am now "Senior Research Assistant" even if it is a self-proclaimed title because I have my very own office and design my own projects and I even train and assign projects to co-workers. I'd be a workaholic if it were possible...meaning if I didn't have to struggle with chemistry..grrr. Oh, btw, anyone with a Physics book for Physics 8A like from last semester...does anyone wanna just give me it? hehe...I'll give it back when the class is done if you want, I mean come on, how many times do you open it up for night-time reading anyway. Oh well...next Telebears appointment is August 6th..which is so near..wow! I'll update you with my schedule for next semester then. Hope everyone's life is going well, drop me a line/comment/call/e-mail whenever because whoever you are, I'd love to hear from you!
| So my birthday was July 12th...yay...it started out with an hour and half of lecture then 4 hours of lab til 5pm but then Adam came to take me to Skates in the Berkeley Marina for a great dinner and it was a nice birthday after all...despite classes. Went through the usual weekly activities, classes (thank you for wireless internet during class!!!), volunteer work at the RSF (Recreational Sports Facility for those of you not down with the Cal lingo. You know it really bothered me...I'm a personal assistant to Paul, a man with cerebral palsy and God blessed him with such a kind heart and hopeful spirit but on Wednesday, he came into the gym so distraught and depressed, didnt' want to work out (which is VERY uncommon for him) and I took some time out to ask him what was wrong. He has an assistant that has not been treating him properly and weasles money out of him...and I just think how it's possible for some people to be so downright awful to others, it's so wrong. No one should've been treated how Paul was and it just kinda slaps you in the face sometimes that the world has such potential to be so good but why do so many just stay in the dark and give in to sin...even myself. But that weighed my heart down a bit during the week.
Then there was the whole deal about the apartment and roomate searching...it's still going unsuccessfully although I did show the apartment to one person (a 30-year old Swiss man) and he was not interested but that just shows you the level of desparation I've reached. I went to Blakes on Thursday night...I was 22 when I was scanned...I'm gettin older and older every day huh? It was a fun night of dancing although that place is like a sauna, it gets so crowded, it's hard to move. Friday I helped Paul again, and then went off to San Jose, where I am right now. Went to the church's fellowship for the first time and it was awesome, just like every time I go there...it's so amazing the vibe you get from everyone and everything in the house of God. Today I have to study hardcore for yet another chem midterm coming up on Monday and then some Spiderman 2 tonight and church at the Living Water place on Sunday..can't wait!.
(PS. Mason, I know you read this...I finally noticed that public/private/protected button!!!! But I guess it's too late now that most people have read everything huh?)
| Phew...after not having checked my Xanga in awhile, I had a chance to reply to all my e-prop posters...God Bless you all for your big hearts in sharing with me your thoughts and prayers for me...makes me all weepy as if the cry-fest at the retreat didn't dry my tear ducts yet . Hmm...so this week has been pretty awesome I must say. Through the internet genius of Brother Jon, I have received tons of emails from Christian groups and members on campus about updates and invitations for me to come to church with them or just to plain meet them for some grub..mmmmmmm. It goes to show you one person can SOOO make a difference and the fuel for all that energy and work was GOD himself! Unfortunately, the Berkeley church exploring will have to be put on hold til next week because I'm at sunny San Jose right now and shall remain here until Sunday afternoon but no worries, I'm going to my grandparents church this Sunday (it's all Vietnamese so hopefully my ear for the language will help me improve my speaking abilities and I can pass my SCOPE Medical Interpretors exam...yikes!...more studying in addition to chem!) I haven't seen my grandparents and uncle/aunt/cousins in awhile who go to this church so it'll be nice to see them again .
Recap of the rest of the week....Friday night I get an e-mail from a SCOPE member telling me a doctor we work for has graciously given us free access to his bangin beach cabin in Steep Ravine/Mt. Tam with a private beach, own cabin that fits 6, and own hot springs. So offering to my friends, 4 brave souls decided to embark on this journey thinking it to be a night of luxury...um....NOOOO! The evening started off fine with dinner at the Fishermans Wharf on Pier 39 in SF....clam chowder to die for! Then it was practically midnight when we decided to venture to the cabin and long story short, VERY lost along a long (along along was written twice, haha, I'm a nerd) curvy, narrow, pitch black highway that seemed to come about right out of a horror movie. We do, however, finally make it to the site grounds where the parking gate is locked so we hike a half mile atop a large mountain since we can't drive to the parking lot carrying all our stuff to get to the cabin and then the cabin code does NOT work so we're locked out at practically 2 am in the morning..major creeps! Then in a frustrated group decision, we hiked our ways back up to cars, down the long 20 minute curvy dangerous road, and back to my pad in Berkeley where we all passed out at 5 am. Next morning, off to Stanford University for a meeting with SCOPE at 10:30 am so departure time was 9:00 am. Meeting went fine, got some Jamba Juice to start the morning, and then went to the 2 million dollar Palo Alto house Linh was showing. I was sooo tired, I slept in the heat infested car with my head hitting the windows and door everytime I dozed off while I was trying to take a nap (P.S...my Ghiradelli Mint Chocolate bar from Paul melted while I was sleeping...luckily I have the 3 Toblerones from him to back it up hehe..mmmm). Then the highlight of my night...RED LOBSTER...that's right steaming hot sweet suculent LOOOOBBBBBSTTTTTEEEERRRRR!!!!! My grandparents, bless their hearts, treated me to a special birthday dinner of the "ultimate feast" at Red Lobster (I could eat the world if it were made of lobsters) topped off with a "fudge overload" Mmmmhhhmmm..life can't get any sweeter (litterally what with the chocolate, lobster, and sundaes) than that. Praise The Lord for such a wonderful time and all he's given to me! Faith still strong, God Bless everyone!
